We photograph more destination weddings and luxury events in Ko Olina than anywhere else on Oahu, and for good reason. The combination of calm protected water, manicured resort grounds, and that dramatic west-facing sunset creates conditions that are almost impossible to photograph badly.
Why the light works here: Ko Olina faces due west, which means it gets the most dramatic, full-on golden hour sunset of any location on Oahu. The four lagoons (Ko Olina 1–4) each have their own character, but all share calm turquoise water and sandy shores that photograph beautifully. The resort architecture — particularly Aulani and the Four Seasons — provides elegant, editorial backdrops that suit luxury wedding and event coverage.

Ko Olina faces due west with an unobstructed ocean horizon. The sun sets directly over the water, creating golden and orange reflections across the lagoons — it's one of the most consistent sunset locations in all of Hawaii.
Ko Olina's lagoons are public beaches. You don't need to be a resort guest to use them. We regularly shoot sessions with visiting couples and families who aren't staying at Ko Olina properties.
Lagoon 1 (Kohola) is most secluded. Lagoon 2 (Honu) is family-friendly with calm water. Lagoon 3 (Naia) has the most open beach. Lagoon 4 (Ulua) is right by Aulani and the most resort-feeling. We scout the best match for your session.
